Presto Marine Lifts

Presto Marine Lift L200

The Prestomarine Lift L200 has been developed after requests from our customers wanting a lift being able to lift smaller RIBs or Dinghies up to 200kg

The difference between L200 and XL500 is that we use a different type of cylinder.

This gives us a lighter lift for boats that are sensitive for to much weightSeadoo

on the stern. The L200 lifts are an innovative and simple solution to effortlessly

launch a smaller Dinghy up to 200Kg from the swim platform of your boat.

The Prestomarine L200 is  suitable for the new SEA-DOO SPARK, the new low cost and low weight waverunner. Read more about this product here http://www.sea-doo.com/watercraft/sea-doo-spark.html

Featuring a unique design combined with proven Swedish construction quality, it gives your family the opportunity to finally enjoy your Dinghy, discover marine areas inaccessible to larger boats, and last but not least, quickly respond to emergencies.

Presto Marine Lifts are  designed to lift tenders and PWC out of the water. The beam of the water craft you carry has a  bearing on how strong a lift you need.

Presto XL500R/F and L200 is innovative and simple solution to effortlessly launch a PWC or RIB from the swim platform of your boat. Featuring a unique design combined with proven Swedish construction quality, it gives boats owner’s family the opportunity to finally enjoy theirPWC/RIB with less hassle when launching and retrieving.

Presto Marine Lift XL500 R/F

Presto lift XL500 are an innovative and simple solution to effortlessly launch a PWC or RIB from the swim platform of your boat with Swedish Quality, Safety and Design. Through a unique patented solution, Presto Marine has created a lift that allows one person to launch or lift a watercraft in less than two minutes.

The tender lift XL500 solves a problem that has long been a major annoyance to yacht owners. Yacht owners know the complication of bringing a Waverunner or a RIB onto the swim platform. The most common solution is to hoist the watercraft with the Passarelle, but this usually takes more than a half hour for two people to launch or to lift up a Waverunner.   With a Presto lift mounted on a swim platform and loaded with a Waverunner or RIB, boaters will finally be able to easily use their RIB or PWC for pleasure, ferrying passengers to the mainland, discovering marine areas inaccessible to larger boats, and last but not least, quickly responding to emergencies.

Lifting 500 Kg… No Problem!

Whereas the older 90’s models of PWC may have  weighed a mere 180Kg, the newer models are much heavier. Loaded with fuel, the lightest ones weigh 400Kg, and the heavier ones tip the scales at 500Kg. Lifting something this heavy quickly requires hydraulics and a system that can spread the lifting power evenly, depending on the weight being lifted by each lifting arm. Presto Marine’s PWC Lift has been engineered to meet this challenge.

Presto Marine Magic

Well, it’s not really magic, but it’s definitely common sense and smart engineering. If you want to understand why a Presto Marine Lift is so powerful, take a Five Kg weight in your hand and hold it straight out in front of you with an extended arm. If you don’t spend all your free time in the gym, you might only be able to hold it that way for just a few seconds. Now take the same weight, and hold it only a few centimeters away from your chest. You could easily hold it there for an hour if you didn’t get bored.

Look carefully at the picture below to understand the power behind a Presto Marine Lift. The PWC weighing 400KG+ about to be launched in the water. The hydraulics are going to push the chocks straight out, sliding over a nylon roller. Because the chocks and the vertical brace are so close together (just like your arms holding a weight close to your chest), very little power is required for the PWC to slowly descend in the water. In fact, most of the power required is to restrain the PWC from going to fast.

Difference Between Rail and Fixed System

The depth of platform and the size of the watercraft you wish to carry will determine which Presto Marine Lift will best fit your boat.

  1. If your platform is less than 600mm deep you need an “F” series
  2. f your platform is more than 900mm deep, we recommend an “R” series lift.

Both the XL500R an XL500F are rated to lift 500kg, and have been tested and classified to the CE Directive. All our lifts are classified to the CE DirectiveThe R series (R=Rail System) are made for boats with deep platforms. The rails allow the PWC or RIB to be locked down close to the transom underway. This not only provides a better ride (for boats less than 44 feet), but also protects the PWC/ RIB from stern waves. This is not an issue for boats that navigate on rivers or never go out in rough seas.

However with (F=Fixed System) the weight of your tender during transport will be further aft and may affect the performance of your boat underway if the length of your boat is less than 44 feet. This will be particularly true if you carry a heavy tender/PWC of more than 450kg and have full tanks and many people aboard. If you plan to carry a dinghy that weights less than 200kg (dinghy, motor, fuel, plus battery), you can order a L200. This model only comes in a fixed version. It’s recommended for boats with narrow platform that have at least a 30-40 foot LOA.

Why Do We Use Rails?

We don’t need to use rails. In fact, on boats with narrow swim platforms, we don’t use them because the PWC is already very close to the transom. We use rails because we want the PWC to stay close to the transom so that the boats center of gravity does not move too far aft, so that when you are underway, your bow and stern are on the same plane. To understand this concept think of the time you were playing on see- saws in kindergarten with one of your parents. This wasn’t possible unless they moved a lot closer to the see- saws center. This math is very straightforward and explained in the picture below.

This concept is particularly important on smaller boats. The variable M(B) above corresponds to the weight of the boat and M(A) is the weight of the tender or PWC.  Our goal is to keep M(A) and M(B) as close together as possible when the PWC or Tender is stored which is why we use rails on wider platforms. Also based on the beam of the watercraft as well as its weight, we know how much hydraulic power we will need to launch or retrieve the watercraft and how far we can extend the watercraft from the fulcrum M(C) which is the edge of the swim platform. These variables are important to use when we customize our lifts to work perfectly with your watercraft and your boat

Yacht owners know the complication of bringing a PWC or a RIB onto the swim platform. The most common solution is to hoist the watercraft with the crane, but this usually takes more than a half hour for two people to launch or to lift up a watercraft.

Through a unique patented solution, Presto Marine has created a lift that allows one person to launch or lift a watercraft in less than two minutes.

Lifting 1000 Kg… No Problem, but be aware of lifting 1000Kg, you have to check if the swim platform is strong enough to handle that weight?

We are available to help you with the installation and even calculate the strength of our boat and swim platform. We can manufacture special bracket  and solutions for your boat.

Lifting something this heavy quickly requires hydraulics and a system that can spread the lifting power evenly, depending on the weight being lifted by each lifting arm. Presto Marine’s Lift has been engineered to meet this challenge.

The Presto Marine Lifts solves a problem that has long been a major annoyance to boat owners. Boat owners know the complication of bringing a PWC or a RIB onto the swim platform.

Because tenders have more beam than PWC’s, for the same weight that needs to be lifted, a tender lift needs more lifting power than a PWC lift. (The best analogy that explains this phenomenon is holding out a weight at arm’s length rather than holding it out close to your body.) Smaller tenders have a 5 to 6 ft beam whereas PWC’s have a 4 ft beam.  In other words, the center of gravity on the cradle holding a tender with a 6 ft beam is 3 ft (half the distance of the beam), whereas the center of gravity on a cradle holding a PWC with a 4 ft beam is only 2 feet. That one foot difference is adjustable on our Presto Marine 500 XL cradle (which means you can switch from carrying a tender to a PWC in minutes).  However, our lifts cannot carry the same weight in both positions. Rest assured however, that we have a lift available that can carry any tender or dinghy you may have, regardless of its weight or its beam. Our engineers can custom manufacture Presto Marine lifts for any sized dinghy or tender.
At the moment we have three basic models to suit different sizes of platform depending on the weight of the PWC or tender you wish to carry.
